thank you melatonin

lately i've been so easily pleased. i almost couldn't stand it this morning when i saw all the fat gobs of snow covering the trees and hillsides, i was so thrilled.

then i worked a whole bunch, and drove into town for my daily dose of humanity, with snow flying off the car and dropping wetly off the trees everywhere. as i left the bookstore by the back door, another woman was walking down the street towards me. we made eye contact but didn't smile or anything, and as soon as she'd passed me a big blob of snow fell on her head from a tree, and she yelped loudly, and i went, 'aah!' sympathetically and we both started laughing, without stopping or looking back at each other. hee hee, move on.

then driving up the hill back to my house, i got stuck behind a truck behind the rural-route school bus, which was good because i was grooving to the CD i have on infinite repeat in my car (i'm too lazy to change the CD – and it reminds me of costa rica), and this little kid hopped off the bus in his/her little snow hat and gloves and coat and backpack and scrambled down their long driveway in that universal schoooooool's ooouuuuuut!!! glee. so i laughed aloud, and the dude in the truck in front of me saw me laughing and grinned in his rearview.

and then! i got back to work and am trying to figure out what's going on with a certain beach and real estate development and in reading up on it, what do i find but this movie (scroll to the bottom of the page and just try not to be completely charmed).
