fall

well damn, it's fall.

woke this morning to fog over the foothills, and am wearing jeans, sweater, and socks. current temperature is 56 degrees at 11:42am! made me feel right at home – it's just like summer in coastal california. i have a feeling it'll get colder, though...

it would've been mom's 66th birthday yesterday. i wrote her another letter – i suppose this is becoming a ritual for me – though i'm hoping she also experiences it somehow, which is the intention. this is where i can see the comfort of organized religion, or at least of the rituals of a religion like shinto.

my friend pippa was out here visiting one of her best friends from college last weekend. we had albarino and appetizers and talked about saturn's return, and it was really nice to see a bay area friend in this new context. short but sweet. and dear KGB from portland is flying out at the end of september with her hubby to visit for a few days. i can't wait! cannot wait. did i mention i'm having trouble waiting?

i'm still living amid cardboard boxes and very little furniture, but i'm ensconced in the lovely mountain studio i wanted. deer in the driveway, bicyclists huffing up the hill, and a view of it all.
